Gerber Baby Size Chart 2026 — The Complete Guide

Gerber is the most widely purchased baby clothing brand in the US — the default onesie, sleeper and bodysuit, often bought by the multipack before the baby even arrives. Which makes it surprising that Gerber publishes almost no body measurements: height and weight only, from Preemie through 5T.

For a brand whose core product is the fitted onesie — where chest circumference decides whether a snap closes and a neckline fits over a baby’s head — publishing no chest, waist or hip data is a real gap. This guide gives you the complete Gerber size chart, explains the overlap issue in their baby sizing, and shows you how to use what they do publish to get the best fit.

The short answer: Gerber sizes by height and weight from Preemie to 5T. Match your baby’s height first, use weight as the tiebreaker, and size up a step for a chunky build. The size finder below does it for you.

The 0-6M Problem

Gerber’s size chart contains an overlap that catches a lot of parents out. Three separate sizes cover the same territory:

  • 0-3M covers 54–61 cm, 3.6–5.4 kg
  • 3-6M covers 61–66 cm, 5.4–7.3 kg
  • 0-6M covers 43–66 cm, up to 7.3 kg

The 0-6M size spans the entire range of both 0-3M and 3-6M combined, plus it extends down to the newborn range. So a 4-month-old at 63 cm and 6 kg could theoretically fit 3-6M or 0-6M — and Gerber’s chart doesn’t explain why both exist or how to choose.

In practice, 0-6M tends to be cut with a looser, more relaxed fit designed to accommodate a wider range of baby builds. The specific month-range sizes (0-3M, 3-6M) tend to be more fitted for that developmental stage. If your baby is on the leaner side, the month-range sizes usually fit more precisely. If they’re a chunky baby or you want more longevity from a single size, 0-6M gives more room. Gerber doesn’t publish this distinction — it’s worth knowing before you buy a multipack.

Why the Missing Measurements Matter

Gerber’s most popular products — the onesie, the zip-up sleeper, the snap-bottom bodysuit — are all items where chest circumference determines fit as much as height does. A baby with a wider chest relative to their height will find the chest snapping area tight before the length becomes an issue. A leaner baby might fit the length of a 6-9M but find the chest swimming.

Without published chest measurements for any baby or toddler size, there’s no way to cross-reference against your baby’s actual chest before buying. For comparison, brands like H&M and Next publish chest, waist and hip measurements across their full baby range. For a detailed look at which major brands publish body measurements and which don’t, see our complete kids clothing size chart →

For Gerber specifically, the practical workaround is to measure your baby’s chest and use the height as a starting point. If your baby’s chest runs wide relative to their height, size up. If they’re lean through the chest, the height-matched size will usually work.

Gerber Shoe Size Chart

Gerber is one of the few baby brands that publishes foot length measurements for their shoes — a more useful number than age or size label alone.

To measure your baby’s foot, place their heel against a wall with their foot flat and measure to the tip of the longest toe. Round up to the nearest shoe size if they fall between measurements — baby shoes should have a small amount of room at the toe.

Does Gerber Run True to Size?

Without published body measurements for baby and toddler sizes there is no reliable way to verify whether Gerber runs generous or slim relative to other brands — there is simply nothing to measure against.

What parents commonly report is that Gerber onesies and sleepers run consistent with their height and weight labels, with a fit that is neither notably generous nor notably slim for an average build. For babies at the chunky end of their weight range for a given height, sizing up one step is a common approach. Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Gerber 0-6M, 0-3M and 3-6M?

Gerber's 0-6M size spans 43-66 cm (up to 7.3 kg) — covering the entire range of both 0-3M and 3-6M combined. In practice 0-6M is cut looser to accommodate more builds, while the month-range sizes (0-3M, 3-6M) fit more precisely. Choose the month-range size for a leaner baby, or 0-6M for a chunky baby or more longevity.

Does Gerber publish chest, waist and hip measurements?

Not for baby or toddler sizes. Gerber publishes height and weight only from Preemie through 5T. Chest appears only from size S (6/7) onward (S = 61.0 cm, M = 63.5 cm, L = 71.1 cm), and waist/hip only from size S as well.

How do Gerber shoe sizes work?

Gerber publishes foot length for each shoe size, which is more reliable than age. Measure your baby's foot from heel to longest toe while standing and match it to the chart — for example a 11.4 cm foot is a US 4. Round up if your child is between sizes, since baby shoes need a little toe room.

Does Gerber run true to size?

There are no published body measurements for baby and toddler sizes, so there is no way to verify generous-versus-slim against other brands. Parents commonly report Gerber onesies and sleepers run consistent with their height and weight labels. For a chunky baby at the top of a weight range, sizing up one step is a common approach.

What size comes after Gerber 5T?

After 5T (102-112 cm), Gerber moves to alpha sizing: S (6/7) covers 112-125 cm, M (8) covers 125-132 cm, and L (10/12) covers 132-152 cm. Chest, waist and hip measurements are published from size S onward.
